Everything you need to know about what you're getting into.
Do I need any artistic skill?
No painting experience needed — but a little patience definitely helps. Some of our designs are highly detailed, with small areas that require a steady hand and a bit of concentration. Nothing you can't do, just don't expect to finish it in one sitting. Take your time — that's part of the fun 😌.
What does the Detail Level mean?
The Detail Level tells you how intricate the illustration is — the higher the level, the more small areas and fine details you'll find. A higher level doesn't mean you need more painting skills, just a little more time, patience and precision. Think less “hard”, more “I might be here a while.” 😅
How long does it take to complete?
There's no stopwatch here 😉. It really depends on the design, its Detail Level and your own pace. Our kits are made to be enjoyed over several painting sessions, especially the more detailed ones. So put on a good playlist, take your time and come back to it whenever you feel like it.
What's included in the kit?
Everything you need: one illustration to paint (24.5 × 32 cm, 350gsm paper), a full-color reference with tips, a sheet of numbered stickers, two brushes, and several pots of bio-based acrylic paint. Designed and made in France. 🇫🇷
Does the illustration come framed?
No, the illustration is delivered unframed, on thick 350gsm paper, ready to paint. We don't currently offer a frame option, so you'll want to frame it yourself once finished.
What kind of paint is included?
Our water-based acrylic paint is made in France, mostly from naturally derived ingredients, with low VOCs and very little odor.
Remember to close the pots tightly between uses to keep the paint in good condition.
Is it a good gift idea?
Definitely. It works both as a relaxing activity to enjoy yourself or as a thoughtful gift for someone who could use a moment to slow down.
This is where we get into the how-to.
In what order should I paint?
Start with the lighter colors and move to darker ones — it's much easier to fix mistakes that way. Work through the larger areas first, then move on to the smaller details.
Should I add water to the paint?
Usually, no. The paint is ready to use straight from the pot. Give it a good stir first, and only add a few drops of water if it feels too thick. Go easy — too much water can make the paint more transparent and affect the final result. This is painting, not soup. 😉
What if the paint starts to dry out in the pot or feels too thick?
No need to worry 🙂. Always give the paint a good stir before using it. If it feels too thick, add just a few drops of water and mix again until you get the right consistency. Be careful not to overdo it — too much water can make the paint more transparent and affect the final color.
And remember to close the pots tightly after each use to keep the paint from drying out.
What if the numbers still show through the paint?
Some lighter colors can be a little more transparent, so a number may still show through after the first coat. No need to repaint the whole area — just let the paint dry and add a small touch of paint directly over the number to hide it. A tiny touch-up and it's gone. 🎨
What if a small area has no number?
Some tiny areas are left blank on purpose. Just check the full-color reference, or follow your instinct. 👀
Any tips for really small details?
Tiny details testing your patience? No need to fight with your brush. For very small areas, a fine liner or a similar-colored marker works perfectly. You can also use a colored pencil or fine marker to draw or redefine very thin lines and tiny details. We won't tell anyone. 😉
Can I adjust a color if I find it too light?
Of course. If a color feels a little too light for your taste, you're the artist, you make the rules. Take a small amount of paint and add a tiny touch of a darker shade with the tip of your brush. Mix well and adjust gradually until you're happy with the result.
Easy does it though 😅 — a tiny bit can make a big difference.
How do I clean my brushes?
Rinse them well with water between each color, then give them a proper wash with soap and water once you're done painting. Let them dry flat or upright, bristles up, to keep their shape.
Don't leave them soaking in water for hours — your brushes deserve better. 😉
What if something is missing from my kit?
That shouldn't happen, but mistakes do. 😅 If a brush, sticker sheet or pot is missing, reach out to our customer service with your order number and we'll sort it out.
What if I run out of paint?
We don't currently offer individual refill pots. But don't panic just yet 😉 — the pots may look tiny, but a little paint goes a long way, and each kit is designed with enough paint to complete the illustration. Just avoid going wild with super thick layers, and you should be absolutely fine.
Why might the colors look different from the box?
Because color likes to keep us on our toes. 😉 The illustration on the box is a printed representation, and paint, print and screens don't reproduce colors in exactly the same way. Variations in shade can also occur between paint batches.
So while we do our best to stay as close as possible to the original artwork, color variations are completely normal and part of the process.
